Your Ruminating Mind Is Like Your Neighbor's Dog That Keeps Pooping On Your Lawn!
Meditation is now like vegetables & exercise.
Everyone knows we should be doing it for calm, stress relief, better sleep, and pain management - then why isn't everyone?
To understand why people struggle so much with meditation, don't you hate when your neighbor's dog poops đź’© on your yard ever week?!
All your neighbor has to do is train their dog to "Siiiiitttt. Stayyyyyyy."
But you know dogs, especially puppies, they have ADHD and just can't sit still.
There's too much way-more-entertaining stuff going on to check out.
Well, your mind is just like your neighbor's dog.
You close your eyes for 5 seconds and have an unconscious urge to open them.
"Oh yeah, I'm meditating now," and proceed to shut them. This is your puppy dog getting "ants in their pants".
You focus on 3 inhales and exhales (your dog sat for 10 seconds), then remember you have to buy olive oil and lettuce at the food store. Then, you allow that thought into a full grocery lists before it grow like a gremlin into a daily to-do list (your dog sprinted out the front door and laid another shit right on your crabby neighbor's lawn again).
You tell your mind, "Siiiiitttt - Stayyyyyy" one more time before your doggy mind runs out in front of oncoming traffic and you give up.
It's usually right about now that people give up, saying, "I can't shut off my mind."
Don't you wish you could get through the pain & discomfort of sitting still with your own thoughts to experience a reward that makes you want to do it again?
And experience greater peace, calm, and strength than you've ever felt before?
